Commercial Solar (PV) Design Engineer

Position

Aurora Energy Inc. is seeking a Commercial Solar (PV) Design Engineer to join our fast-growing company. In this role, you will be assisting our experienced design engineer in commercial solar design.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design assistance in creating commercial PV system permitting/construction drawings using AutoCAD, including but not limited to site plans, single- or three-line diagrams, elevation drawings, and detail drawings
  • Assist in site feasibility studies and site surveying for PV layouts
  • Perform simulations of solar energy production and analyze PV system performance
  • Assist in creating and compiling information for sales proposals
  • Create bills of materials for project installations and review quotes for equipment purchasing
  • Other design tasks assigned by Engineering Manager

Requirements

  • Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in the solar industry
  • Intermediate knowledge of construction codes and standards (i.e., NEC, NFPA 1)
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Experience with PV simulation software PVsyst, Helioscope or Aurora Solar
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong attention-to-detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Two years or more PV design experience especially in C&I

Preferred Qualification

  • Trained in AutoCAD at school or job site
  • Experienced in Helioscope, PVSys, and Aurora Solar
  • EIT is preferred
  • NABCEP PVIP is preferred

Commercial Solar (PV) Sales Manager

Position

Aurora Energy is seeking an experienced sales professional to help drive commercial solar sales. In this role you will work directly with our Sales Director, Design Engineers, and Project Managers to originate, develop and contract commercial solar projects in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C. Ideal candidates will be highly self-motivated, ethical and knowledgeable about commercial solar.

Responsibilities

         Origination

    • Generate new opportunities
    • Respond to inquiries and RFPs quickly
    • Manage and track origination activities via CRM

         Estimation and Proposal Generation

    • Identify key customer concerns, gather relevant data, and conduct site visits
    • Work with design engineers to ensure designs meet customer needs
    • Complete project estimate and cashflows
    • Generate proposals tailored to customer needs with excellent attention to detail

         Pipeline Management and Relationship Building

    • Present proposals to clients
    • Move projects through sales pipeline
    • Develop strong customer relationships for repeat business

         Project Close and Networking

    • Help Director of Sales negotiate contract terms with new clients
    • Act as key commercial contact for client after project signing
    • Represent Aurora Energy at networking and industry events

    Requirements:

    • 2-5+ years of commercial solar sales experience
    • Knowledge of the solar industry including: basics of system design and construction, product knowledge, regulatory requirements and financial incentives
    • Technical aptitude and experience with such tools as Helioscope, Aurora Solar, Zoho CRM, and Google Earth as well as very strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong networking ability and the ability to constantly expand your customer base
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal and drug screening
